  • Come To Him Ministries

    1 Mercy 2 Compassion 3 Grace

    Our Mission

We exist to help those struggling in a personal crisis find relief and disciple them into a Christ-Centered lifestyle. Come to Him is a ministry of reconciliation, through applying the truth of scripture, working with others, and sharing in fellowship with those afflicted with life's challenges, CTH adherents let go of past hurts, triumph over current problems and learn to properly worship Jesus Christ! Come to Him operates as a bridge, between the often afflicted outcasts and the church. People who are searching for their Higher Power, need to know that the only true Higher Power is Jesus Christ. And people in the church need not add more burdens but like Christ, make the burden light!

    Our Nouthetic Tabernacles

Are living arrangements, in which men and women are; encouraged, admonished and warned( nouthetic) in the place where God dwells( tabernacle). Our tabernacles are made up of people who have graduated from a treatment program and people who demonstrate the desire to walk in freedom.

As the saying goes, getting sober is easy; staying sober is the hard part and the first year of recovery is the most difficult. Research shows that involvement in an appropriate recovery ministry can be one of the most effective tools in achieving and maintaining recovery. Our discipleship ministry is just that. We incorporate a supportive Biblical perspective into our resident’s plans for ongoing care. We have three locations, Hezekiah and Ezekiel House in Orange County and Isaiah house in Los Angeles County.

It is our goal to help residents foster a relationship with Christ resulting in sobriety. We do this by our discipleship ministry. We herald: recognition, education, legislation and assimilation. As residents go through the a our discipleship ministry they learn that there really are other options. They master the skills necessary to recognize those options and how to incorporate them into their daily lives. They may discover that the key to success is not in hiding from situations and relationships that may trigger their addictive behaviors, but that they have the power, through Christ Jesus, to make better choices to achieve the abundant lifestyle Christ desires. Our residents willingly stay in touch, we love to hear from our alumni and we are here to offer support whenever needed.

    Our Tabernacle Wants To:

    • Allow God to do the rescuing while He works through the united power of His great and diverse community.
    • Encourage human dignity by creating an environment in which all involved "give" and "receive" in a spirit of reciprocal learning and mutual ministry.
    • Give a "hand up", not a hand out.
    • Remove obstacles so that others can help themselves.
    • Work with other ministries and churches so that we can accomplish more.
    • Be a entity who is always asking the question why a person may be hungry, homeless or helpless.
    • Help others understand that change can be soon but recognizes that change may take time.

      Lindsey

Hi, I am Lindsey and I am 26 years old with 3 children. I have been in the ministry for about 3 years. I had just left the father of my three children because he was destroying his life with drugs and would not stop. I had left that lifestyle and become a believer in Jesus Christ. I was tired of waiting for him to change. I moved out into a hotel room and had no idea where I was going to go. I “happened” to mention this to a lady I did not know at church and she “happened” to be living at Come to Him. She told me about James and Kay. I called them and they came that day to pick us up. I was days away from having my third child. Now, we happily live in a one bedroom apartment, and I am going to school full time at Fullerton College to become a massage therapist. I also work at Fullerton College and will soon be finishing my schooling. I so love being a part of the ministry. I don’t know what I would have done without CTH. They have helped me so much! I love going to Whittier Hills Baptist Church and my kids are involved in AWANA there. God is good!!

      Kelly

Hi, my name is Kelly Snyder I am a 43 yr. old male. Hailing from the state of Maryland. I have been residing here at the Hezekiah house since the beginning of December. The circumstance that brought me here is quite unlike the experiences of many that have been touched through the blessings that this program provides. Please allow me to explain further. I was married for 18 years. Worked hard, purchased a home and raised a beautiful daughter. By no means was I a wealthy individual, not monetarily that is, but I had a very rich and rewarding life.

On March 17, 2002 at 6:30 am, my life would be forever changed. I found my wife of 18 years dead by my side. She had a heart attack in her sleep at the age of 32. My life was never the same after that. Shortly after I was convinced by a childhood friend to come here to California my daughter being of age had her life established in Maryland and she made the decision to stay. After arriving in California I found gainful employment in the area as a painter, a profession that I have practiced for 25 plus years. I was able to find an affordable place to stay. A small camper parked in the backyard of a customer that I had the pleasure of doing work for. Unfortunately that camper was destroyed in the Yorba Linda fires. I was directed by a church to contact Come to Him. I had lost everything and was staying at the hotel that drained me financially, no family, no support group. I met with James Chambers and he showed me nothing but genuine care and hospitality. I can’t in words tell you what CTH has done for me. It has given me the family support, love that I had not had since my wife passed, direction and rehabilitation from the blows of life. Unlike many that have passed through these doors, I did not struggle with alcohol and or drug addiction; just a series of unfortunate circumstances.

I was not able to pitch a tent in a park a park or on the beaches of Huntington or Newport but I was able sleep in a bed at the Hezekiah House. I have a belief in God but it is hard for me to go deeper but in time maybe that can be worked out. However, I do thank God for CTH who is able helped me in my time of need.

      Mary

I would like to write about my experience with Come to Him Ministry. I am a mother of three children and currently going to court for child custody and divorce. About two months ago, my husband kicked me and my kids out of the house. My husband was becoming more abusive verbally and physically towards us. The police were called and I was able to stay with my mother for one week but needed to find a place to go to after that. During this time, I was very scared and just worried. I called different resource places but none responded. I called Come to Him Ministry and Mr. Chambers was very kind and caring. I really felt that we had hope after talking with him. Mr. Chambers was able to put us in an apartment and was always very concerned that we were okay. I really feel that this ministry is heaven sent. It has been such a blessing to experience the love and the care of people that don’t know you but are willing to go beyond to make sure you are safe and cared for. This has truly been an awesome experience. It put my worries and fears at ease. I pray that this ministry can continue to grow so it can help other people that are in a difficult situation and provide a shelter and most of all, the love of Jesus!

      Jose

My name is Jose Lopez and Come to Him has helped my family and me when all of our relatives and friends had given up and were unwilling to help anymore. We were two addicts living on the streets with a baby on the way. With nowhere to call home and in and out of jail due to our drug lifestyle; so we had reached our bottom .We soon realized that the lord had some new plans for our life. We were given a number to call Come to Him Ministries and than met with James and Kay Chambers. We feel this was by no accident but by the work of God's hand and that day began our new life with a place to call home. We found someone who cares about us and a new life in Jesus Christ! They have been there with us every step of the way as we faced the challenges and difficulties that came along with staying sober and cleaning up the wreckage of our past. They have been there helping us find a job, through the birth of our two sons and our marriage, and without them we don't know where we would be! We believe that this ministry should never close its doors. There aren't many people out there who try to help addicts and those with no place to go; while having a little freedom! And the help love, and support people get from CTH is life changing and God focused!

    The Children

One of the most gut wrenching sights is a child with no place to call home. Imagine a child with no warm bed to sleep in; think of a child that doesn't even know where her next meal is coming from. This is happening throughout the world, and yes, even in affluent countries such as ours.

When we care for children, we are caring for the least of these. Every where you look today you see just how many are affected by homelessness and hopelessness. And though the numbers are astonishing they can be altered. Don't believe that you or I can’t make a difference in their lives. The impact we make in the lives of these parents makes an impact in the lives of these children.  We believe this is essential.

Our vision is to see the hungry, homeless, and the destitute receive a second chance in life by providing food, clothing, and shelter. Our mission statement is to take theses individuals who are struggling in some sort of personal crisis and transition them into a Christ-centered lifestyle.

Our faith in God compels us to believe that other like-minded people will aid our cause. It is our hope to use our tax exempt status under 501(C)(3) to draw donations from private citizens, companies, corporations, and state and federal grants.  Could this be you?
